MeadowBrook Safe Harbor is a No Kill Shelter. Until permanent homes can be found dogs and cats stay here and are cared for by our staff. Dr. Brooks sees to it that any animal that comes in gets the necessary vetting services and care that they need to ensure that they are healthy. Safe Harbor Rescue offers dogs and cats for adoption for only their medical expenses. We have a wide variety for adoption.

	FEATURED PET Mr. T, Chihuahua. 4 years old, tan. Mr. T is a very sweet Chihuahua, a little on the "bigger" side. He does great around other dogs, cats, and various types of animals. He's shy around children, but is never aggressive. His favorite hobbies include: playing with Fernando (they're best friends), chasing squirrels outside, and running!

	Harry is 2 years old. He is as lovable as they come. He loves being around people and other animals too. Harry will make a great family member. He is current on shots and doing well with his kennel training.
	Sammy is a male pekingese, about 1-2 years old. He is current on his shots and will be neutered later this month. Sammy is a loving and affectionate dog... he loves to kiss. He is accepting of other dogs and is crate trained. He is progressing well in house training.
	Rosie is a ten month old female Terrier Mix that is full of life and energy and would perfect in a active home, she is fully vetted and is doing excellent in the house breaking department but will need a home that has the time to devote to her . Rosie gets along famously with other small dogs and cats and just wants to be everyone's best buddy and isn't afraid to show you.
	Queenie is the sweetest little lady anyone could ever ask for, she is a very gentle soul that would make the perfect addition for a family, and would love to your best friend. This girl is about two years of age and is current on all vac's and worming programs and will be spayed before placement. Queenie is also leash and crate trained and is house broken, she loves to play ball and enjoys going for car rides and gets along very well with other dogs and cats. This is a very pretty black Labrador Retriever that has a lot of love to give and deserves the same in return .
	Willie is a 3 yr old golden retriver mix. Willie is a very loving dog and he does great with other dogs. He can be alittle shy at first but never aggressive. He loves bones , chew toys, and to play fetch.
	Horhay is a 2yr old german shepherd. He is super sweet and loves to play . Horhay needs a home that has time to work with him because he loves to be part of the family.
	Mitsi, Chihuahua. 4 years old, white and brown. Mitsi is a fun little character! She'll be your right hand man, your side kick, your best friend. She'll definitely let you know when she needs attention! Mitsi is looking for a good home with patience and love in abundance. She's a very sweet and affectionate pet.
	Chihuahua - Chakito. 5 years old, black and white. He listens very well, although he does have a tendency to do what he feels best - he fancies himself a "leader". He and Canyon have been friends for a very long time, so it'd be great if they could find a home together! Chakito is on the larger side - a bulky Chihuahua, if you will. He's a little guarded when you first meet him, but after a few minutes he's willing to give you a chance.
	Canyon - male chihuahua, 5 years old, light tan. Canyon is a very vocal Chihuahua! He'll let you know when he is needing some love and affection. He's a standard size Chihuahua, smaller than Chakito. He and Chakito have been best friends for a few years, so it'd be wonderful if they could find a home to live together. While Chakito is more of a "leader", Canyon is a "follower". He's looking for a home with people who can give him all the attention he feels he deserves.

To Adopt an Animal:

• Call 316-733-6866 to set up a time to come in.
• If you make the decision to adopt, you will be asked to fill out an adoption agreement form.
• The fee involved in adopting from us covers the necessary vet services for the animal. These fees include the spay or neuter, heartworm test, all of the necessary vaccinations including their rabies, distemper and bordetella, and the worming as well as any other surgeries or treatments that the individual animal needs.
  
  *Adopting an animal is a lifelong decision. Please understand that we want our animals to find forever homes. Many of our animals have already had a difficult enough life and going from home to home is very stressful for them. If you do not have the time or funds that an animal requires, we ask that you rethink your decision to adopt a pet.

Surrendering an animal:

• We understand how difficult it may be for you to surrender your pet. We are commited to placing surrendered animals into forever loving homes.
• We have a limited amount of space available and are unable to take every dog that needs help. Please understand that we will help if we can, but that space is not always available.
• Please note that we do not take known aggressive dogs. We cannot have our staff nor potential pet owners being at risk of being bitten.

Volunteering:

Volunteers are always appreciated and are welcome anytime. Dogs need to be walked, bathed, groomed, and socialized. If you would like to help, please call us to sign up for the days and times that you are available. :)

To make donations to the Safe Harbor:

• Donations are always welcome since we do not get funding from any other sources. All funding comes straight out of the Hospitals budget.
• You can mail donations to PO Box 780531, Wichita, KS 67278 or stop in anytime to visit us.
• Newspapers, towels, dog/cat food, litter, leashes, etc. are always appreciated.
